How do I troubleshoot my Chromecast?

Oh no, your Chromecast isn't working! Maybe your projector is showing a blank screen, static, or a solid colour. For some reason, your Chromecast doesn't seem to be recognized. Here are some tips to get you up and ready to mirror again!

The Components

Looking at the image below, your Chromecast comes with 3 separate components:

  1. Chromecast - Plugs into any HDMI port on your Projector
  2. USB Power Cable - Provides power to your Chromecast. One end plugs into your Chromecast, and the other end plugs into the power supply (3) or a USB port on your Projector
  3. Power Adapter - Used with the USB power cable (2) to power your Chromecast (1)

The Connections

Looking at the image below, your Chromecast requires a number of connections in order to work properly:

  • (A) Micro USB - This is the small end of the USB Power Cable
  • (B) HDMI - This is responsible for transmitting audio and video to your Projector
  • (C) Power - This can be the Power Supply connected to a wall outlet, or the USB Power Cable connected to a USB port on your Projector

  • Unplug the Chromecast from the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds and plug it back in.
