Support for Printers, Projectors, and PCs

Intro

We pride ourselves in being the happy support heros teachers deserve, doing our absolute best to resolve any issue that interrupts teaching and learning. Our goal has always been to make the technology so rubust that it fades into the background, letting the subject matter shine. Although it might seem as though we're all-knowing wizards, we actually rely on the same specialist companies used by schools and buinesses alike to fill specific roles.

Printers

Printers purchased or leased through companies like Columbia Business or Ricoh should have a maintenance contract attached that includes support as these companies will know your printers inside and out. As a result, they're who we call on for extra support when for situations like:

  • Physical support of printers, such as paper jams, toner replacements, and hardware/software malfunction.
  • Physical setup of printers, such as delivery, installation, and configuration
  • Setting up printers on Windows-based PCs, or personally-owned devices

Here's how we help:

  • Provide step-by-step instructions on how to setup managed printers on managed Macs, managed iPads, and managed Chromebooks.
  • Assist with best-effort troubleshooting for any printer, including the sharing of resources found online, such as owners manuals or troubleshooting guides.
  • Arrange service for everything else with a specialist

Projectors

There's an entire world of AV companies that specialize in the installation, setup, and maintenance of projectors, speakers, projector screens, and teleconferencing hardware. They're experts in their own field and we call on them for situations like:

  • Installing replacement bulbs
  • Cleaning the projectors' filters
  • Physical setup of projectors, such as installation, wiring, calibration, and configuration
  • Installing additional cables, such as additional HDMI or VGA cables
  • Calibrating the smart-pen / drawing funcationality
  • Physically repairing projectors, including uninstalling and reinstalling, pre and post repair

Here's how we help:

  • Provide step-by-step instructions on how to use the managed devices connected to your Projectors, such as Apple TVs.
  • Assist with best-effort troubleshooting for any projector or unmanaged device, including the sharing of resources found online, such as owners manuals or troubleshooting guides
  • Order replacement bulbs when needed and ship them to the school
  • Arrange service for everything else with a specialist

PCs

There's an entire world of Windows-centric IT compaines that specialize in the installation, setup, and maintenance of PCs. While PCs can sometimes look like Macs or Chromebooks, they function very differenctly. We firmly believe iPads, Macs, and Chromebooks are way more suitable for education than any Windows-based device and we've helped thousands of people make the switch. If Windows is what you want, then we'll need someone to help for situations like:

  • Installing additional software (not mentioned below)
  • Installing Windows updates & upgrades
  • Designing and Implementing an adequate backup strategy
  • Restoring from a backup and/or removing viruses
  • Hardware repairs and Upgrades
