Working together through new construction and renovations
Whether you're building a brand new school or renovating an existing building, there's going to be some technology-related decisions to make. As your technology team, we're here to help you and your Project Manager (PM).
Why get us involved
School buildings last for a long time and we want to make sure the building starts off strong and comes with some decent futureproofing. From working with all our schools, we've seen some great examples of what looks good on paper but doesn't work well in the classroom. We also get to see and define trends that make teachers lives easier. Most notably, this includes projector placement & wiring, network placement & wiring, custom cabinetry design, and specific places for device carts.
When to get us involved
We can typically contribute to the planning phase with scope and rough budgeting. We can also help with the design phase by defining specifications and providing input based on our experinces across many schools. Finally, as the project nears occupancy, we can assist with ordering specific equipment and preparing the network installation.
What you can expect
As always, we're here to provide as much information as possible. You and your PM will need to know what existing technology can be reused, what needs to be budgeted for, and what trends need to be adopted to futureproof the design of the building. We're here to provide the insight and information neccessary to answer these questions and help develop the big picture.
Once the project is near completion (occupancy), we'll also be involved in moving and/or installing the network equipment neccessarry to get the Wi-Fi up and running. We'll make sure printers are connected to the network and we'll setup any other infrastructure that's typical of our team (like Apple TVs).
Where we'll need help
There are certain things our team doesn't do, but don't worry — we've found and vetted other small teams who do great work in these areas.
- Low voltage wiring, such as A/V or network (including phone)
- Installing & Calibrating Projectors and other A/V
- Delivering & Setting Up Printers (big and small)
