How to Reset Locked Accounts on Shared iPads

Student accounts may be locked for various reasons; from students forgetting their passcodes, to forgetting to log out of a previously used iPad. The great news is that teachers have the ability to reset student passcodes from any device!

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to school.apple.com.
  2. Log in using your teacher managed Apple ID. If you do not know your managed Apple ID or forgot your password, please send us a support request and we'll happily sort it out with you.
  3. On the left-hand side, choose Users.

  4. Select the student's name and choose Reset Password. If the Reset Password option is not visible, you may see an option labelled Create Sign-In or Reset Shared iPad Passcode (they all do the same thing).

  5. Create a temporary 4-digit passcode. Once a student logs in, they will be prompted to change the code. The temporary passcode and the new passcode cannot be the same.
  6. You're done!
