Apps that automatically back up on iPad in Shared Mode
Shared iPads are a fantastic way to share a device between multiple students while ensuring that each user keeps their data private. Each user gets an individual, separate experience, rather than having to sort through and navigate another student's content and projects.
Shared iPads are only available to schools and to businesses with iPads set up in a specific way, and because of this, not all applications understand how to automatically sync and back up their data.
If an app doesn't back up automatically, this means that the app's content is only stored locally on a specific iPad. This means that if an iPad breaks, an update fails, or a student signs into a different iPad, data that isn't backed up will be lost forever.
We've checked out the most-used apps at all of the schools that we work with, and have compiled a list of apps that back up automatically. If an app isn't on the below list, assume that it doesn't back up on its own — if data in other apps is important (or part of an ongoing project), students should manually back up any important info after each use.
